The Planetary Garden: Cultivating Conscience offers compelling new visions of urban life.
OMA/AMO’s urban study Palermo Atlas, led and edited by Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli, served as a basis for Manifesta 12: The Planetary Garden: Cultivating Coexistence (through 4 November). This latest iteration of the nomadic biennial of contemporary art & culture explores coexistence in a world moved by invisible networks, transnational private interests, algorithmic intelligence, environmental crisis and inequalities through the lens of Palermo. Artists, writers, architects and film directors have developed projects in close collaboration with local organizations, resulting in 30 new site-specific commissions displayed in iconic locations throughout the city.
