Rockwell Group partner brings unique expertise to panel.
id Design Awards 2019 welcomes Shawn Sullivan to his first term on the selection jury. The graduate from Yale University became the first partner of the world-renowned Rockwell Group where he is also Studio Leader.
Globally recognized as a leader in the hospitality industry, he is known for his theatrical interiors that communicate a sense of luxury. To Sullivan, luxury is not solely about rich materials. Rather, his idea of luxury is derived from the interplay of materials and design with the cultural, social and physical context. He fuses these elements into the all-important cohesive narrative of the client.

He has been instrumental in developing the worldwide Nobu brand, beginning with Nobu Matsuhisa’s first restaurant in Manhattan. There, his inspired design redefined the definition of luxury dining from ‘white tablecloth’ to customized environment and cuisine. The Nobu restaurant in Dubai and the Nobu Hotels in Las Vegas, Miami Beach and Manila are included in his repertoire.
Other projects include the flagship New York EDITION, Vidanta Los Cabos, and OMNIA Nightclubs and Dayclubs worldwide. Sullivan is also directing The Clubhouse at The Camellias by DLF, a collection of luxury residential amenities, in Gurugram, India.
