identity Design Awards 2020 shortlist: Interior Design – Hotel

This award recognises any hospitality interior

identity is pleased to announce the shortlist for the sixth annual identity Design Awards 2020, which is set to take place on 4 November in Dubai, UAE.

Over the coming weeks, we will be releasing this year’s shortlisted projects.

The Interior Design – Hotel celebrates the best in an overall hospitality design inclusive of all public and private areas for hotels and resorts across the MENA region.

Here is the full shortlist for Interior Design – Hotel:

Address Marassi Golf Resort & Spa by Wilson Associates – Marassi, Al Alamein, Egypt

Located along Egypt’s glittering Mediterranean coastline, Al Alamein is a picturesque summer destination in the northern part of Egypt. The Address Marassi Golf Resort & Spa is the latest addition to the bustling vacation town. The design brief was to offer travelers from near and far a unique hospitality experience rooted in both leisure and wellness; a welcoming residence where tradition is still passionately followed, and where modernity has slowly creeped in through younger generations making their home their own. A refreshing palette of whites and taupes blankets the arrival lobby of the resort, enveloping guests in an immediate sense of calm, while punches of “caldero” and burnt oranges energize the hotel’s hallmark space. Below foot, a stunning checkered floor in a locally sourced, tone-on-tone Galala Marble beautifully underscores the elegance of the hotel’s theme, while emphasising the heritage of its inspiration.

Le Royal Meridien Club Tower by  LW – Dubai, UAE

Le Royal Meridien Club Tower is one of the most premium resorts in the United Arab Emirates. LW were commissioned to renovate all the guest rooms, suites as well as the restaurant.  What makes this project special is the clever use of standard finishes. These gave the rooms a lavish feel while still keeping it similar to the look of the main hotel and guest rooms. Moreover, the team contrasted white oak timber against the black metal, which complimented the blush pink and turquoise colours.

Nuzul Al Salam by Ammar Basheir – Muharraq, Bahrain

Nuzul Al Salam is a government renovation project, which is part of The Year Of Zayed initiative between the UAE’s Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, and Bahrain’s Shaikh Ebrahim Center for Culture and Research. Ammar Basheir was appointed as the interior designer for the project, which he restored from a traditional Bahraini house to a boutique hotel in the city of Muharraq. The hotel is situated in the old streets of Muharraq and it includes a majlis (reception area), dining room, a central courtyard, and 6 suites inspired largely by the mythical epic of Gilgamesh’s the flower of eternity. Each suite is named after a theme from the poem, Light, Vision, Flower of Eternity, Sea, Hope, and Sun.

Vida Creek Harbour by Godwin Austen Johnson – Dubai, UAE

Located at Dubai Creek Harbour, the new hotel offers breath-taking views of the waterfront and Dubai’s iconic Downtown Dubai skyline. Taking its inspiration from the adjacent marina the new Vida Creek Harbour is an elegant yet relaxed property with the characteristic simplicity that defines the Vida brand. Paying tribute to its privileged location, the Vida Creek Harbour is the first hotel in this immense new development and so it had to be a timeless design that would set the tone for the future. Key design influences taken from the marina lifestyle borrow details from the high-end yachts moored outside. The idea was to maintain a simple light colour palette that would be the base for the key accent tones of the marina influenced turquoise hues.
