Jaguar Land Rover unveils Advanced Product Creation Centre

Sustainable building will host 13,000 engineers and designers.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has unveiled its new Advanced Product Creation Centre at its Gaydon site in the UK, which will bring its vehicle design, engineering and purchasing functions under one roof for the first time, a move that the UK-based carmaker says will increase collaboration and innovation.

Occupying a site covering 4 million square metres, the centre will be the working home of 13,000 highly skilled engineers and designers working on developing future Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, as well as the creation of future autonomous, connected, electrified and shared (ACES) mobility technologies.

JLR says that the new building is one of the UK’s most sustainable non-domestic buildings, as well as the country’s largest automotive creation and development centre. The company says the “new facility is the next step in [our] Destination Zero mission: zero emissions, zero accidents and zero congestion.”

The new facility delivers more than 50,000m² of additional world-class innovative workspace, and up to 20 % of its energy will come from almost 3000m² of photovoltaic solar panels on the roof, and the remainder from 100%-renewable sources. The same glazing technology as the Eden Project has been used to bring natural light into the building wherever possible and make it more energy-efficient.
