New exhibition examines how the furniture industry can reduce its carbon footprint

Part of Dubai Design Week, ‘Furniture Design for Sustainable Future’ runs from 6 November.

A new exhibition presented by Fann A Porter gallery and held in collaboration with Zinjaar Vintage will look at ways in which the furniture industry can help to address the importance of climate change.

Running from 6 to 16 November as part of Dubai Design Week, and hosted at The Workshop – home of Fann A Porter – ‘Furniture Design for Sustainable Future’ will present refurbished and upcycled antique and vintage furniture that will highlight how such pieces can both work brilliantly in contemporary settings and have a carbon footprint that is typically around 16 times lower than that of new items of furniture – by reducing landfill, carbon emissions and excessive consumption.

The opening of the exhibition will be followed by a talk with Rebecca Anne Proctor, Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar Art and Harper’s Bazaar Interiors at Harper’s BAZAAR Arabia, on Monday 11 November at 7.00 pm, at Workshop Dubai.

Furniture Design for Sustainable Future will also provide buyers with the opportunity to purchase design pieces on an interest-free instalment payment plan as part of its ‘Art for All Collective’ initiative, which is dedicated to developing a sustainable personal and professional creative economy.
