Ropeless elevator to be featured at EXPO 2020 Dubai
The thyssenkrupp ropeless MULTI elevator will be featured as a lighthouse innovation at the German Pavillion at EXPO 2020 in Dubai. The pioneering state-of-the-art system from thyssenkrupp Elevator employs linear motors that can move vertically as well as horizontally for each individual cabin, eliminating the need for ropes. This state-of-the-art design requires fewer and smaller shafts than conventional elevators, thereby reducing the elevator footprint in a tall building by up to half. Instead of one cabin per shaft, the MULTI allows multiple cabins to operate in a loop, an efficient change that significantly reduces wait times as well as energy usage.
Michael Cesarz, CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator spoke with identity for Business of Design. Read the entire interview here.
