Highlights of the annual festival announced.
The thirteenth edition of Vienna Design Week will be held from September 27 to October 6, 2019. Different exhibitions will appeal to a myriad of interests.
Returning for the second time will be Urban Food and Design. The city’s creative professionals will submit solutions addressing the theme of consumption, which includes such issues as alternative and sustainable food resources for feeding ever-increasing populations.
The Game +Graphic Lab aims to widen the definition of design by including digital positions and game design. Focus will be on game development in the local as well as international arenas.
The Focus District this year will be in the ninth municipal district of Alsergrund where visitors can discover new spaces and hidden design treasures. The guest country this year will be Finland, highlighting their significant achievements in the world of design.
Submissions for program partners are still open in an effort to increase diversity. Laura Winkler, Project Leader, Program Partners said, “No matter whether it’s big enterprises or tiny studios – everybody is welcome to join in. When planning the festival, diversity is not only desirable but essential. As in previous editions, the activities of our programme partners specially developed for Vienna Design Week are certain to amaze ad fascinate our visitors.”
