‘We Left the Desert Behind’ now at Intersect by Lexus

Exhibition by German-Italian Artist Petra von Lutterotti will run until 13 February.

‘We Left the Desert Behind’, an exhibition by German-Italian Artist Petra von Lutterotti, opens today at Intersect by Lexus – located at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Gate Village 7.

von Lutterotti created the painting series in Dubai, and the artists say the body of work ”is a tribute to all Arab women whose energy, strength and power I have admired since the first day I moved to the UAE. I am fascinated by how progressively the Arab women I met are living with emancipation, with intelligence and are full of sparkling life. They do not give up their tradition and femininity, as it happens so often in Western countries. From this vitality, I will get lots of further inspiration for my paintings.”

The artist adds: “Women are the main subjects of my picture stagings. In my paintings I do not strive for a realistic representation of people and situations. Rather, I have made the artificiality of the fashion figurine my stylistic device. In this way I can create a distance to existing people and move the focus on a certain type of characters more generally.”

‘We Left the Desert Behind’ can be viewed from 7:00pm until 9:30pm today (11 February) and between 8:00am and 9:00pm on the 12 and 13 February.
